Harlem Avenue Construction Begins in Frankfort

(Revised Copy)

IDOT notified the Village of Frankfort today that they were able to resolve all issues regarding the closure of Harlem Avenue, and would, therefore, begin construction on Monday, August 8 versus the reported August 15 date. This closure is part of the U.S. Route 30 construction project.

Residents should be advised that Harlem Avenue is only closed just south of U.S. Route 30 (near Walgreens in Frankfort) to just north of the Georgetown sub-division. IDOT will provide emergency access during the construction period. Residents in the affected sub-divisions will still have access at their entrance/exit points of their neighborhoods from Harlem Avenue.

The construction project is scheduled to be completed in 7 to 11 working days. For further information, please contact Assistant Village Administrator, Rob Piscia, at 815-469-2177.

GIS Experiment
The Village of Frankfort is requesting assistance from residents with an interactive experiment to develop the "GIS" (geographic information system) location for your "B-Box"? The "B-Box" is the visible part of the control valve between your water service line and the public water main. Click here for a link to an article that was published in the recent Spring/Summer edition of the "Villager" newsletter and explains this simple process. The Village would appreciate your help to locate the "B-Box" on your property and submit the results to us. The easy instructions are listed on the "How Can You Help Develop the GIS" portion of the article. When you have your results, just send an email to gis@vofil.com--it's that easy!
